(Phase III) USR In-depth Project: Aspiration for Liuxiang - Island-Wide Activation and Value Reconstruction
This project will address local issues in Liuxiang through educational sharing, problem reflection, and entrepreneurial momentum analysis. It aims to complement the first-phase efforts of both participating universities, fostering intergenerational learning between youth and the elderly. Key issues include the migration of local youth, the loss of fishing traditions, an aging population, a lack of new industry momentum, challenges in promoting temple culture, and environmental degradation.
By introducing cross-campus courses, the project emphasizes hands-on experience and exploration by students in the Xiaoliuqiu area, as well as discussions on issues after interactions between local residents and the elderly. The project aims to produce特色美食 (unique local cuisine),特色商品 (specialty products), space optimization, elderly handcraft workshops, marine ecological preservation, and innovative enterprises. The goal is to create a collaborative, protective, creative, communicative, learning, and prosperous environment, and to jointly develop Taiwan’s only offshore ecological paradise through ecological promotion,特色美食 (specialty cuisine), and local new momentum.
The project focuses on six major areas:
1. Youth and Elderly Shared Specialty Cuisine: Develop diverse local specialties, market rich local resources, and stimulate local business opportunities.
2. Youth and Elderly Shared Marine Ecology Protection: Develop marine conservation with an emphasis on ocean knowledge, connection, and love, and sow seeds of marine conservation awareness.
3. Youth and Elderly Shared Space Optimization: Launch courses on barrier-free design to build inclusive recreational and accessible spaces for both youth and the elderly.
4. Youth and Elderly Shared Cultural Creative Products: Combine local materials with temple culture to create collective cross-disciplinary works that align with local cultural characteristics.
5. Youth and Elderly Shared Handcraft Workshops: Introduce digital manufacturing technology, integrate local cultural features, and create a concept of shared learning between youth and the elderly.
6. Youth and Elderly Shared New Enterprise Guidance: Develop "living, integration, creation, dissemination" strategies to support the establishment of new local startups and generate new economic growth momentum.
Through these six strategies, the project will connect the curricula of Nanhua University and Kao Yuan University of Technology, implement ecological education, and preserve local elder experiences, invigorating the local community and creating new momentum.
